Heritage and traditions at the heart of Barbados 2025 We Gatherin’ campaign

At ITB Berlin 2025, the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) will showcase its vibrant new campaign, We Gatherin’, a year-long celebration of Barbadian heritage, culture, and community. This initiative invites Barbadians living abroad to return home and reconnect with their friends, family and culture while offering international visitors the chance to experience authentic island traditions and interact with local communities.

The We Gatherin’ campaign highlights key events, including the iconic Crop Over Festival (1 July to 4 August) and the Barbados Food & Rum Festival (23 to 26 October), where travellers can enjoy lively cultural celebrations, culinary delights, and world-renowned local rums.

A major milestone for 2025 is the opening of the Barbados Heritage District, situated on the island’s largest and oldest known slave burial site. Launching in May, this memorial will provide a powerful historical experience, featuring 570 timber poles to honour the 570 slaves buried in unmarked graves.

Under the leadership of BTMI’s new CEO, Andrea Franklin, Barbados aims to reinforce its position as a year-round destination through immersive experiences that blend history, culture, and hospitality. Visitors to ITB Berlin can meet with Barbados representatives on their stand to learn more about the island’s rich offerings and the We Gatherin’ campaign, which promises to make 2025 an unforgettable year for both returning Barbadians and global travellers.
